About Quickburn
How a weekend prototype became a privacy-obsessed way to share sensitive notes that self-destruct.

Quickburn is a minimalist tool for sharing secrets that burn after reading. I built it to prove that practical security can be straightforward and private by default.
Why I built Quickburn
Our code runs entirely in your browser, encrypting your message before it ever leaves your device. The server stores only an encrypted blob and a small amount of metadata for expiration.
I started this project as a learning experience. I used similar tools in my career and wanted to understand how they worked, so I built my own.
Our guiding principles
- Simplicity – one page, one secret.
- Privacy first – secrets expire quickly and are deleted automatically.
- Accessibility – keyboard‑friendly and free of dark patterns.
Get involved
Today Quickburn is maintained by the Quickburn team, a small group of privacy‑minded developers. We operate transparently and welcome community feedback. If you spot a bug or have an idea, reach out on the contact page or file an issue on GitHub.
Quickburn is self‑funded and operates transparently. We may explore ethical monetization such as privacy‑respecting ads in the future, but any ads will be optional and will never track you across the web.
Until then, the project survives on goodwill and small donations. Thank you for using Quickburn and for caring about privacy on the internet.
